No shopping, no hauling boxes down from the loft, and no proofs to approve. One person — Carly Linden, of Loudoun County — designs and installs every one herself, at weekends.

Then it is
simply yours.

Once your porch is in, the display belongs to you. Keep the pumpkins as long as they last, move them, carve them, put them out for the birds — there is nothing to return and nobody coming back for them.

Real pumpkins hold well through October and into November in Virginia. When they finally go, they compost.
